About this idea

Now this is a story all about how... the elf flipped Christmas upside down! 🎤 The elf is sitting on the living room couch in a sideways snapback cap made from paper, holding a tiny handwritten 'rap sheet' with the Fresh Prince theme lyrics rewritten for Christmas. Surround the elf with a mini 'Bel-Air mansion' built from building blocks, a printed paper limo, and a sign reading 'In West North Pole, born and raised — on the rooftop is where I spent most of my days!' Add a second sign: 'Chillin' out, snoopin', acting all cool, sneaking some cookies before going back to school!' Use a printed tiny DJ turntable image and position the elf like it's about to drop the sickest Christmas rap. Parents will INSTANTLY recognize it, lose their minds, and post it everywhere.

What you'll need

  • Paper for snapback cap
  • Building blocks
  • Printer for paper limo and signs
  • Tiny DJ turntable image printout
  • Marker or pen for writing lyrics

How to set it up

  1. Cut out and fold the paper to create a sideways snapback cap for the elf.
  2. Build a small 'Bel-Air mansion' using building blocks around the elf.
  3. Print out the paper limo, signs, and tiny DJ turntable image, then place them around the elf setup.
  4. Write Christmas-themed 'rap sheet' lyrics on a small piece of paper and place it in the elf’s hand.
  5. Position the elf on the couch facing the 'mansion' and 'limo,' holding the rap sheet as if about to rap.

Tips & variations

  • Let your preschoolers help write their own silly Christmas rap lyrics to add to the rap sheet.
  • Use colorful markers to make the signs and cap more vibrant and eye-catching.
  • For added fun, play the Fresh Prince theme song in the background when your family discovers the scene.
