About this idea

The elf has staged an epic marshmallow snowball fight in the living room! Scatter mini marshmallows everywhere (on the couch, floor, TV stand) with your elf hiding behind an upturned bowl or mug as a fort. Add a toy or stuffed animal on the other side with marshmallows around it. Leave a tiny note saying 'Sorry about the mess... he started it!'

What you'll need

  • Mini marshmallows
  • Small bowl or mug
  • Toy or stuffed animal
  • Tiny note card or sticky note
  • Pen or marker

How to set it up

  1. Scatter mini marshmallows around the living room area—on the couch cushions, floor, and TV stand to create the 'snowball fight' scene.
  2. Place the elf behind an upturned bowl or mug to serve as their 'fort' in the snowball fight.
  3. Position a toy or stuffed animal on the opposite side of the scene and surround it with a few extra marshmallows to show it's the elf's 'opponent.'
  4. Write a tiny note saying 'Sorry about the mess... he started it!' and place it near the elf or the toy.
  5. Step back and enjoy the playful aftermath your elf has created!

Tips & variations

  • For added fun, use different colored marshmallows to make the scene more vibrant and exciting for preschoolers.
  • If you want to extend the activity, let your children help 'clean up' the marshmallow mess together as a fun morning task.
  • You can variation this idea by using cotton balls instead of marshmallows for a different texture and visual effect.
