About this idea

The elf has been caught mid-bath-time routine — completely FROZEN! Position the elf on the bathroom counter mid-toothbrush, with a tiny drawn xylophone cut from cardboard nearby and a note: 'Bingo played the Magic Xylophone — I can't move! Can YOU unfreeze me?' Arrange a bar of soap, a toy rubber duck, and a rolled-up washcloth around the elf as if mid-chaos. Use a dry-erase marker to draw musical notes on the mirror for extra magic!

What you'll need

  • Elf doll
  • Cardboard sheet
  • Dry-erase marker
  • Bar of soap
  • Toy rubber duck
  • Washcloth

How to set it up

  1. Cut a small xylophone shape from the cardboard and place it near the elf on the bathroom counter.
  2. Position the elf sitting upright on the counter with its toothbrush held mid-movement as if frozen.
  3. Place the bar of soap, toy rubber duck, and rolled-up washcloth around the elf to look like a mid-bath mess.
  4. Write the note: 'Bingo played the Magic Xylophone — I can't move! Can YOU unfreeze me?' and place it next to the elf.

Tips & variations

  • Use the dry-erase marker to draw musical notes on the bathroom mirror for a magical touch that can be easily wiped off later.
  • For extra fun, let your preschooler draw their own musical notes or ‘magic’ symbols on the mirror with the marker.
  • Variations: Replace the xylophone with a tiny tambourine or maracas cut from cardboard for different musical themes.
