About this idea
Your elf transforms into a hip-hop star with a mini breakdancing stage! Lay out a small piece of cardboard as a dance floor, position the elf mid-breakdance move (propped with tape), add a boombox made from a small box with drawn speakers, and scatter paper 'dollar bills' around. Bonus: Leave a note challenging your kids to show their best dance moves!
What you'll need
- Small piece of cardboard
- Scotch tape
- Small box (for boombox)
- Paper (for dollar bills)
- Note card
How to set it up
- Cut or tear a small piece of cardboard to serve as the dance floor and place it on a flat surface where the elf will be positioned.
- Prop the elf in a fun breakdancing pose and use small pieces of tape to gently secure it to the cardboard so it stays standing.
- Decorate a small box with crayons or markers to look like a boombox, adding drawn-on speakers and buttons, and place it near the elf.
- Cut out dollar bill shapes from paper, scatter them around the dance floor, and add a note card with a friendly challenge for the kids to show their best dance moves.
Tips & variations
- Use foam core board instead of regular cardboard for a sturdier dance floor that lasts longer.
- Encourage kids to recreate the elf's pose or come up with their own dance moves for a fun family dance-off.
- Switch the boombox for a small toy microphone or headphones to mix up the theme and keep the activity fresh for repeat performances.
