About this idea
The elf has become a gaming content creator! Set up a mini streaming station with a small device (old phone/tablet), ring light (LED tea light), and headset (made from pipe cleaners). Position the elf 'playing' a printed screenshot of a retro game (Minecraft, Among Us, or classic Mario). Add a chat window with comments like 'POG!', 'Elf clutched it!', and 'Subscribe!' Create a channel banner: 'NorthPoleGaming'. Include snacks (mini chips/energy drinks) and a webcam (bottle cap). This taps into tweens' love of gaming YouTube/Twitch culture.
What you'll need
- Small device (old phone/tablet)
- LED tea light
- Pipe cleaners
- Printed screenshot of a retro game
- Mini chips or small energy drink
- Bottle cap
How to set it up
- Attach the LED tea light to the back of the device to act as a ring light, securing it with tape or placing it behind for a natural glow.
- Create a headset using pipe cleaners, bending one into an L-shape for the earcups and another for the microphone neck.
- Place the printed game screenshot on the device screen, securing it with tape if needed, and position the elf next to the device as if actively gaming.
- Arrange the snacks and place the bottle cap as a webcam next to the device, and add a small piece of paper with 'NorthPoleGaming' written as the channel banner at the top.
- Write a few fun chat comments like 'POG!', 'Elf clutched it!', and 'Subscribe!' on small pieces of paper and place them around the setup as if they’re appearing on a screen.
Tips & variations
- Use a small piece of foam core or card to prop up the printed screenshot if the device screen isn’t big enough to display it clearly.
- For extra flair, add a tiny piece of paper with 'LIVE NOW' or 'NEW VIDEO!' near the banner to make it feel like a real stream.
- If you don’t have pipe cleaners, use small pom-poms or felt circles to create a playful headset alternative.
