About this idea
The elf sits in the pantry surrounded by cereal boxes knocked over and spilled cereal all around, holding a tiny bowl.
What you'll need
- Cereal boxes
- Cereal (any kind)
- Small bowl (toy or plastic)
- Pillow or soft cushion (optional for elf comfort)
- Elf doll
How to set it up
- Empty several cereal boxes and leave them open or slightly crushed around the pantry floor. Sprinkle some cereal pieces on the floor to look like a mess. Place the elf doll sitting or standing near the cereal boxes, holding a small bowl as if trying to catch falling cereal. Adjust the boxes to create a fun 'avalanche' effect around the elf.
- For extra effect, tilt a couple of the cereal boxes so they look like they’re about to fall. If desired, place a small pillow or cushion behind the elf to make it more comfortable.
- Step 3: Make sure the elf is clearly visible and the scene looks playful and messy, but still safe and easy for young children to enjoy.
Tips & variations
- Use cereal that your child likes best to build excitement when they discover the scene. For a quieter setup, use cereal with larger pieces that won’t make a mess on the floor.
- Variations: Create a 'cereal mountain' by stacking a few boxes slightly, or hide a small note with a fun question like, 'Who will help clean up this cereal avalanche?'
