About this idea
The elf has found the Magic Xylophone and cast a freeze spell on all the stuffed animals! Pose every plushie in the room mid-action — one caught mid-jump, one 'falling', one covering its eyes. The elf stands center-stage holding a toy xylophone (or a ruler as a wand) with a sign: 'Shhh… they're frozen! Only YOU can unfreeze them!' Works best with any stuffed toys you have lying around.
What you'll need
- Toy xylophone or ruler
- Sign that reads 'Shhh… they're frozen! Only YOU can unfreeze them!'
- Several stuffed animals
- Optional: small sticky notes or tape
- Optional: a small basket or bowl for collected items
How to set it up
- Lay out several stuffed animals in various 'frozen' poses around the room — mid-jump, 'falling', or covering their eyes using gentle props like sticky notes or tape if needed.
- Place the elf figure in the center of the scene holding either a toy xylophone or a ruler like a magic wand.
- Put the sign next to the elf or lean it against something nearby so it’s clearly visible.
- Step back and admire your magical frozen scene — the elf has cast a spell and only the child can lift it!
- When your child discovers the scene, invite them to 'unfreeze' the toys by gently moving each one back to a normal position — perhaps with a little giggle or a soft clap for each one they thaw.
Tips & variations
- Use plush toys of different sizes and textures to make the poses more interesting and playful.
- For added fun, hide a small prize or treat inside one of the 'frozen' toys that the child uncovers when they thaw it.
- If you have a xylophone at home, let your child tap it gently while 'unfreezing' the toys for a musical twist!
