About this idea
The elf has pulled a full nest of dry spaghetti out of the box and draped it across the kitchen counter like a wild tangle of hair — some strands hanging off the edge, others looped around the salt shaker and a wooden spoon. The elf sits in the middle of the chaos, arms out, as if completely stumped about how to sort it out. All you need is a box of dry spaghetti and a few small kitchen props.
What you'll need
- Dry spaghetti
- Small salt shaker
- Wooden spoon
- Small elf doll
How to set it up
- Lay out a handful of dry spaghetti across the kitchen counter in a tangled, loose nest shape.
- Drape some strands over the edge of the counter and loop a few around the salt shaker and wooden spoon to add to the 'mess.'
- Place the elf doll in the middle of the spaghetti tangle with its arms outstretched, looking surprised or puzzled.
Tips & variations
- Use just a small handful of spaghetti to keep cleanup easy and make it more preschool-friendly.
- For added fun, write a small note nearby that says, 'Help me untangle!' to invite the kids to play.
- If you have extra time, let your children try to gently untangle the spaghetti with their fingers for a simple motor skills activity.
