About this idea
Transform your elf into a techno DJ! Create a mini DJ booth using a cardboard box, with pot lids as turntables and wooden spoons as mixers. Add aluminum foil knobs and buttons. Surround the elf with toy sunglasses, a colander as a disco ball hanging above, and arrange baby toys as the 'dance floor crowd' (stuffed animals bouncing). Bonus: Leave a note saying 'Das ist gut, ja!' with glow stick bracelets for your toddler to join the silent disco party.
What you'll need
- Cardboard box
- Pot lids
- Wooden spoons
- Aluminum foil
- Toy sunglasses
- Colander
How to set it up
- Cut or fold the cardboard box into a booth shape and tape it securely. Place pot lids on top as turntables and wooden spoons as mixer controls.
- Cover the box with aluminum foil to make shiny knobs and buttons. Attach toy sunglasses to the front of the booth with tape.
- Hang the colander above the booth with string as a disco ball. Arrange stuffed animals and baby toys around the booth as the 'dance floor crowd.'
- Place your elf inside the DJ booth, sitting or standing with hands on the 'turntables.' Leave a note saying 'Das ist gut, ja!' and place glow stick bracelets nearby for your toddler.
Tips & variations
- Use bright-colored aluminum foil for extra sparkle and visual appeal. You can also add small battery-operated lights inside the colander for a glowing disco ball effect.
- For younger toddlers, place the glow sticks directly in their hands in the note, or wrap them in a small basket for easy access.
- If you don’t have a colander, use a small plastic bowl and punch holes around the edges with a nail to mimic a disco ball.
