About this idea
The elf is perched on a stack of books as Pride Rock, holding a small stuffed lion cub overhead in the iconic Simba-lifting pose — just like Rafiki in The Lion King! A paper sun cutout glows behind them and a tiny note reads 'Hakuna Matata — no worries this season!' Use board books as the rock, a lion plush, and a yellow paper circle for the sunrise.
What you'll need
- 3-4 large board books
- Small stuffed lion cub
- Yellow construction paper or cardstock
- Scissors (or pre-cut sun shape)
- Small sticky note or card
How to set it up
- Stack the board books upright to create a small 'Pride Rock' structure and secure them if needed.
- Cut out a sun shape from the yellow paper and hang or tape it behind the book stack to look like a glowing sunrise.
- Place the elf on top of the books and have them hold the stuffed lion cub overhead in a lifting pose, just like Rafiki.
- Write 'Hakuna Matata — no worries this season!' on the small note and place it nearby for an added touch.
Tips & variations
- Use a thick marker or crayon for the note so it’s visible to young children.
- If you don’t have a lion plush, use a small toy or even a drawn lion for the pose.
- For extra flair, add a few small leaves or grass clippings around the base to make it feel more like the savanna.
