About this idea
Elf 'completes' homework with ridiculous answers (e.g., math problems solved with emojis, history essay claiming Santa discovered America). Leave a red pen nearby with checkmarks and 'A+++ PERFECT' written everywhere. Add sticky notes with fake teacher comments like 'Best work I've ever seen!' for extra laughs.
What you'll need
- Elf doll or toy
- Child's homework paper or worksheet
- Red pen
- Sticky notes
- Emojis or printed-out funny symbols
How to set it up
- Place the homework paper or worksheet on a table or desk where the child will easily see it.
- Have the elf 'solve' the problems with ridiculous answers—use emojis or funny symbols instead of real answers, and write 'A+++ PERFECT' in big, excited letters with the red pen around the paper.
- Add several checkmarks all over the paper with the red pen to make it look like it was graded with high praise.
- Leave sticky notes nearby with funny 'teacher comments' such as 'Best work I've ever seen!' or 'You’re a genius!'
Tips & variations
- Let your child help come up with the silly answers and comments for an extra fun family activity.
- Use different colored pens or markers to make the 'grading' even more colorful and silly.
- For extra laughs, the elf can also 'sign' as a funny teacher name like 'Professor Ho Ho Ho' or 'Dr. North Pole.'
