About this idea

Your elf becomes DJ Elfie! Set up a mini DJ booth using two round lids or coasters as turntables, headphones made from bottle caps and pipe cleaners, and tiny album covers cut from wrapping paper. Surround the elf with colorful building blocks arranged as speakers. Add a note: 'I've been mixing the North Pole's hottest tracks all night! Can you help me name my next song?' Include crayons for kids to draw their own album covers.

What you'll need

  • Two round lids or coasters
  • Bottle caps and pipe cleaners
  • Wrapping paper
  • Colorful building blocks
  • Crayons

How to set it up

  1. Create DJ Elfie's headphones by attaching bottle caps to the ends of pipe cleaners.
  2. Cut small squares from wrapping paper to make tiny album covers and place them near the 'turntables'.
  3. Arrange colorful building blocks on either side of the elf to look like speakers.
  4. Position the elf between the two round lids or coasters to look like turntables.
  5. Leave a note nearby: 'I've been mixing the North Pole's hottest tracks all night! Can you help me name my next song?' and include crayons for the kids to draw their own album covers.

Tips & variations

  • Use foam core or cardstock for sturdier turntables if lids are too small.
  • Let kids use the crayons to draw directly on paper or cardstock for easier cleanup.
  • For added fun, hide small stickers or sparkles around the scene as 'DJ prizes' for kids to find.
