About this idea
The elf has been up all night reading! Set up the elf propped against a book with tiny sticky-note 'annotations' made from cut paper (e.g., 'SO GOOD!!', 'Plot twist!! ๐ฑ', 'Best chapter ever!'). Arrange 2โ3 other books in a mini stack beside them with a handwritten note: 'I picked your next great adventure โ which one will you choose?' Let the kids pick their next read.
What you'll need
- Small elf doll
- Several children's books
- Colored paper or sticky notes
- Pen or pencil
How to set it up
- Choose a cozy spot on a shelf, nightstand, or bed where the elf can sit or stand.
- Prop the elf up against a favorite book and place 2โ3 other books in a small stack beside the elf.
- Cut out small pieces of colored paper or sticky notes and write fun, kid-friendly annotations like 'SO GOOD!!', 'Plot twist!! ๐ฑ', or 'Best chapter ever!' and stick them onto the pages of the book the elf is leaning against.
- Write a handwritten note on a small piece of paper that says, 'I picked your next great adventure โ which one will you choose?' and place it near the stack of books.
Tips & variations
- Use markers or crayons your child likes to make the annotations extra fun and colorful.
- For added charm, let your child help write or draw the annotations and the note to make it a shared activity.
- Change the annotations each night to keep the 'book club' fresh and exciting.
