About this idea

The elf sits at the kitchen counter behind a toy grill with mini hamburgers made from brown pom-poms and felt, surrounded by stuffed animals positioned as party guests. A small checkered tablecloth is spread out with tiny plates and condiment bottles tipped over in playful disarray.

What you'll need

  • Toy grill
  • Brown pom-poms
  • Felt sheets (red and yellow)
  • Small checkered tablecloth
  • Stuffed animals
  • Tiny plates and condiment bottles

How to set it up

  1. Cut the red and yellow felt into small circles to create mini hamburgers and place brown pom-poms in the center for grill marks. Secure the felt circles with a small drop of glue if needed.
  2. Set the toy grill on the kitchen counter and arrange the felt hamburgers and pom-pom "grilled" patties on it. Tilt a few of the condiment bottles to create a playful, spilled look.
  3. Spread the small checkered tablecloth on the counter next to the grill. Arrange stuffed animals around the tablecloth as party guests and place tiny plates in front of each one.

Tips & variations

  • Use a variety of colored felt to make the hamburgers more visually appealing and fun for preschoolers.
  • For added detail, draw faces on the mini hamburgers with a fine-tip marker to make them more engaging for children.
  • Rotate the positions of the stuffed animal guests each day to keep the scene fresh and exciting for repeated elf sightings.
