About this idea
The elf sits on the kitchen counter with a small fishing rod dangling into a bowl of goldfish crackers. A trail of scattered goldfish crackers leads across the counter, and a tiny paper fish hangs from the fishing line.
What you'll need
- Small fishing rod or craft stick with string
- Bowl of goldfish crackers
- Paper or cardstock
- Marker or crayon
- Small elf doll
How to set it up
- Cut a small piece of paper or cardstock into the shape of a fish and draw faces on it with a marker or crayon.
- Place a bowl of goldfish crackers on the kitchen counter and sit the elf doll next to it with a small fishing rod or craft stick with string dangling into the bowl.
- Scatter a trail of goldfish crackers across the counter leading away from the bowl.
- Tie the paper fish to the end of the string on the fishing rod so it appears the elf has caught a fish.
Tips & variations
- Use a small magnet on the paper fish and a magnetic fishing rod for a reusable setup.
- For extra challenge, hide additional goldfish crackers around the kitchen for kids to find.
- Create multiple fishing rods for a 'fishing competition' theme with several elves and bowls.
