About this idea
The elf has set up a top-secret 'mission briefing' on the desk using a folded paper dossier labeled 'CLASSIFIED – Eyes Only'. Inside is a handwritten challenge: complete 3 kind acts today to unlock a mystery envelope taped nearby. Scatter a few sticky notes around as 'intel clues' and prop a tiny flashlight beside the elf like a field agent mid-briefing.
What you'll need
- Paper or cardstock
- Pen or marker
- Sticky notes
- Small flashlight
- Tape
How to set it up
- Fold a piece of paper or cardstock into a small folder and label it 'CLASSIFIED – Eyes Only' with a marker.
- Write three simple kind act challenges (e.g., 'Help a friend,' 'Share a toy,' 'Say something nice') on the inside of the folder.
- Scatter a few sticky notes around the folder as 'intel clues' and tape a small mystery envelope nearby.
- Place a tiny flashlight beside the elf as if it’s mid-briefing, and position the elf nearby looking like a field agent.
Tips & variations
- Use big, easy-to-read letters for the kind act challenges so preschoolers can participate.
- For added fun, let the kids complete the kind acts together and then open the mystery envelope as a family.
- You can change the kind acts each night to keep the missions fresh and exciting.
