About this idea
The elf has gone full Batman vigilante overnight — perched on the edge of a bookshelf in a paper cape and pointy paper ears, frozen mid-crouch above a scene of 'solved crimes': every toy villain and stuffed animal bad guy in the house has been rounded up, zip-tied with rubber bands, and lined up in a row on the floor below. A tiny paper Bat-symbol cut from black card is stuck to the wall behind the elf like a makeshift Bat-Signal shining from a desk lamp. The elf stares down at the captured villains with absolute deadpan menace.
What you'll need
- Paper for a cape and ears
- Rubber bands
- Black card or construction paper
- Desk lamp or flashlight
- Toy villains and stuffed animal bad guys
How to set it up
- Cut out a small cape and pointy ears from black or dark paper for the elf.
- Arrange toy villains and stuffed animal bad guys in a row on the floor and secure them together with rubber bands.
- Place the elf on the edge of a bookshelf, perching it in a mid-crouch position and attach the paper cape and ears to the elf.
- Cut a small Bat-symbol from the black card and stick it to the wall behind the elf.
- Turn on the desk lamp or flashlight to cast a dramatic shadow of the Bat-symbol on the wall behind the elf, creating a 'Bat-Signal' effect.
Tips & variations
- Use a small piece of tape to hold the elf in place on the bookshelf so it stays in the perfect pose.
- If you don’t have toy villains, use any stuffed animals and designate them as the 'bad guys' for this playful scenario.
- For extra fun, write tiny 'case closed' notes next to each captured villain.
