About this idea
The elf has gathered every TV remote in the house and built a tiny fortress around them using stacked books, LEGO bricks, and tape barriers. A hand-drawn ransom note reads: 'All remotes are MINE until someone does 10 jumping jacks — I'm watching from the North Pole feed!' The elf sits proudly on top, arms crossed, guarding the stash.
What you'll need
- Books
- LEGO bricks
- Tape
- Hand-drawn ransom note paper and markers
- TV remotes
How to set it up
- Gather all TV remotes from around the house and place them in a central location.
- Stack books to create a base and build a small fortress structure using LEGO bricks on top of the books.
- Decorate the fortress with colorful tape to create barrier walls around the remotes.
- Write and place a ransom note nearby that says: 'All remotes are MINE until someone does 10 jumping jacks — I'm watching from the North Pole feed!'
- Position your elf on top of the fortress, sitting with arms crossed as if guarding the remotes.
Tips & variations
- For added challenge, hide the remotes in different rooms and have the elf leave a trail of clues to find them.
- Let your kids help build the fortress and write the ransom note to make it a fun family activity.
- Use foam core board instead of LEGO for a quicker setup if time is limited.
