About this idea

The elf sits inside a clear plastic soda bottle with the bottom cut off and reattached, looking trapped and silly inside the transparent container.

What you'll need

  • Clear plastic soda bottle
  • Scissors or bottle cutter
  • Hot glue or strong adhesive
  • Small elf doll
  • Cardboard or masking tape

How to set it up

  1. Carefully cut around the bottom of the clear plastic soda bottle using scissors or a bottle cutter, creating a separate base and top portion.
  2. Secure the bottom portion back onto the top of the bottle using hot glue or strong adhesive, ensuring it is firmly attached and creates a snug container.
  3. Place the small elf doll inside the bottle, positioning it to look like it's trapped or trying to escape from the transparent container.

Tips & variations

  • Use cardboard or masking tape to reinforce the bottle opening if you want to make it extra secure for the kids to discover.
  • For a variation, you can write a silly note on a small piece of paper to place next to the bottle saying something like 'Help me escape!'
  • If you have multiple elves, create several bottles with each elf inside for an even more playful surprise.
