An elf doll stands worried next to a crooked black Duplo tower with Lego Batman balanced at the top, surrounded by scattered bricks on the playroom floor.

About this idea

The elf is perched on the playroom floor surrounded by an explosion of LEGO Duplo bricks, clearly mid-build on a lopsided black tower. The Lego Batman minifigure stands at the top of the crooked structure, arms out, as if inspecting the elf's hopeless architecture. The elf looks genuinely stressed — one arm braced against a wobbling wall, one brick held up like a last desperate fix. Scatter rejected bricks in a wide radius around the scene.

What you'll need

  • LEGO Duplo bricks (black bricks preferred)
  • Lego Batman minifigure
  • Small elf doll
  • Playroom floor space
  • Optional: small sticky notes or paper blocks

How to set it up

  1. Lay out a wide area on the playroom floor and scatter some Duplo bricks randomly to create the 'exploded' effect.
  2. Build a crooked, lopsided tower using black Duplo bricks — make it intentionally uneven and unstable.
  3. Place the Lego Batman minifigure balanced at the top of the tower with its arms outstretched.
  4. Position the elf doll next to the tower, with one arm braced against it and the other holding up a single Duplo brick as if trying to stabilize the structure.

Tips & variations

  • Use extra bricks to create a ‘collapsed’ section at the base of the tower for added drama.
  • Let your preschoolers help build the crooked tower for more personalized fun and creativity.
  • For extra challenge, let the kids try to ‘fix’ the tower after seeing the elf’s struggle.
