About this idea
The elf has raided the toy bin overnight — a winding trail of soft blocks, mini figures, and stackable rings leads across the floor to the elf sitting triumphantly inside an upturned laundry basket 'base', surrounded by the entire haul. Tiny arms are stretched wide as if guarding the loot. The toy bin nearby sits conspicuously empty.
What you'll need
- Soft blocks
- Mini figures
- Stackable rings
- Laundry basket
- Elf doll
How to set it up
- Empty the toy bin of all soft blocks, mini figures, and stackable rings.
- Create a winding trail of the toys leading from the toy bin to a central spot in the room.
- Place the elf doll inside an upturned laundry basket at the end of the trail and arrange its arms stretched wide as if guarding the toys.
Tips & variations
- Use brightly colored toys to make the trail more fun and eye-catching for preschoolers.
- Encourage children to follow the trail and 'rescue' the toys before bedtime for added play interaction.
- For variation, let the elf 'escape' with only a few toys each night, gradually increasing the number for a fun progression.
